Huge data acquisition with real time processing now reality in Switzerland thanks to parallel FPGA’s using OpenCAPI links

To advance macromolecular crystallography research, PSI is migrating to the next generation macromolecular crystallography detector. ┬áThis demands 5X in data processing compared to prior generations of detectors which present data management systems cannot handle the load and becomes a bottleneck. ┬áTo meet this demand, PSI migrated to parallel FPGA’s using OpenCAPI links that ungate image data fed to the processors.
